Houlihan Lokey and Lazard -- Good experience?

My school does not get recruiting from big firms (University of Minnnesota - Twin Cities). We get recruiting by Houlihan Lokey and Lazard which are middle markets. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to do an internship with them and would it help me get into a big firm?

Has anyone worked/interned for any of these companies?

Thanks.

Definitely. Lazard is huge in asset management and a prestigous firm at that. Don't know about Houlihan. Really that is all UMinn gets??

HLHZ has a solid middle market name, a strong restructuring practice on-par with Lazard and Blackstone, and good MM M&A deal flow.

You must be referring to Lazard-Goldsmith, which is the Middle Market arm of Lazard, I do not know much about it; however, it was recently established in 2007 after Lazard bought Goldsmith.

thx for the input...

kmzizzle, yeah that's all we get as far as IB goes... we get many corps tho, gen mills, deloitte, ML, best buy, target... but no IB on those..
