I’m stuck. I really liked the Perkins environment when I visited but I’m not really against non-quiet/sub-free housing, so I don’t know whether I should indicate quiet housing in my preferences. I’m pretty sure I don’t want sub-free housing, even if that’s how I choose to live next year.

Well, if you like perkins, you could still get it even if you don’t indicate sub-free/quiet dorms. Though, wasn’t the housing questionnaire due yesterday?

I think it’s due today? I’m really okay with any dorm EXCEPT Keeney, but I’m pretty sure we can’t indicate that anywhere…

I know someone who wrote a letter to ResLife explaining why she didn’t want to be in Keeney, and they honored her request.

Honestly? Housing doesn’t matter: even if you get Keeney, I don’t know anyone there that truly hated it. And if you do (usually it’s roommate, rather than dorm, issues) you may be able to switch out: everyone I know who asked for a room change got it. Where you go will help determine who you’re friends with, where you hang out, how you socialize: but pretty much everyone gets randomly assigned anyways, so it’s not like you’ll be living differently just based on where you live, because your friends will be people who just as easily could have lived somewhere else, etc. I was somewhat sad to be living in the farthest dorm from campus at first, but really, it affected, but did not diminish, my first-year experience.
