Housing Advice

Any advice on where I should apply for housing?

I'm an Engineering major if that helps.

After reading a bunch of threads here, I hear that a lot of Engineering majors choose to live in ISR. It’s not as loud as the Six Pack, and is close to the Engineering Quad.

I am going to live in Bromley Hall this fall, which is Private Certified Housing. I’m living in a triple, so it turns out to be the same cost as University Housing.

yeah isr is the way to go. its close to the quads and its pretty quiet. although they people there may be pretty antisocial.

chemesrule is right, ISR is quiet and has the best location, but is not very social(but the social life is decent if you are not into greek life).

So if I choose ISR does that mean I’m not gonna meet anyone? How bad is it?

You will still be able to meet people in ISR easily if you put in effort. While the ISR dining hall food is not very good, it is probably the best place to meet people there, since people from all dorms eat there due to its location.

Oh that leads to my other question. I’m wondering if I’ll regret choosing ISR when there are so many dining halls in the six pack.

The six pack has only one dining hall, and it has the best dining hall on campus(although PAR’s stir fry comes close). There is also an a-la-carte place that is open for most of the day that has made to order wraps and a small convenience store inside. UIUC has a good bus system, so going to the six pack from ISR is not very difficult.
