We just got back from Cal Berkeley and found they have shared male and female bathrooms. In other words the guys and girls use the same shower facilities. Is this the case at UCLA. This was a big downside for my daughter as she is trying to decided between cal berkeley and UCLA and USC.

No. They don't do that UCLA.

how's the RA situation? is there someone adequate to supervise dorm problems? what if you don't like your roommate? is it possible and flexible to switch?

The shared bathroom thing isn't as bad as it sounds. Many of my friends at Cal have this situation (some are girls) and it isn't really that awkward or anything because everyone wears bathrobes anyways.

but yea, there are no shared bathrooms at UCLA. I would HIGHLY advise your daughter not to make her final decision based on this alone (but come to UCLA because we are just better :) ).

I went to an overnight program at Cal. The bathroom thing was strange, and I have brothers. It was a small factor in me choosing UCLA. UCLA is a great school-I'm very excited I am going there and the bathrooms are not co-ed.
