If you are getting lots of financial aid, and it covers your housing costs, what do they base it on? Do they assume you are getting a single, double, or triple? Because on the estimated costs of attendance, the cost of housing is 10 thousand something. My question is, if I choose to get a triple or am forced into one, do i get to keep the money i save and use it for something else, such as books? what happens?

i believe they subtract mandatory fees such as housing, orientation, and tuition from all the aid money you get from UCSD. if there is any money left over, UCSD will give you what's left and you can use that money for whatever else you will need such as books, personal expenses, laptop :p
