housing and orientation

Thanks for reading this!! We’re down to the wire here, and son is probably going to commit to UT tonight. We’re from out of state. As far as housing, son has a housing application from December. Once he pays his enrollment, does he receive a housing contract? At this late date, is Jester already booked up? How does that work? Also, I notice that there is only one orientation session left, which is last. If we sign up for that one, is it possible that earlier ones will open up? Will that late orientation date mean that he won’t get the classes he needs or the FIG he wants? Sorry for so many questions!! Thanks all.

Jester probably isn’t full if he submitted the deposit in December. They base it off the deposit date, not the acceptance of enrollment. He might have a little trouble registering, but that also means he’ll get an earlier registration date for the spring. I’m also fairly certain they reserve seats in classes/FIGs for the later sessions.

Thanks @SlimShadyLady for your response. Do you know when they start sending out housing contracts? I haven’t seen any place where he is able to “pref” housing options. Not sure if we missed that. Btw he has committed now. Just celebrated by buying some Texas gear lol.

@d101parent I got offered my housing contract roughly a week after I committed, and then you’re able to go in and choose housing preferences. I think contracts are offered in the order that you paid your deposit, but I’m not 100% sure.
