there are four options for smoking/non-smoking housing:

I do not smoke and request substance-free housing.
I do not smoke and request a non-smoking roommate.
I am allergic to smoke and request a non-smoking roommate.
I am a smoker and I understand that all residence halls are non-smoking.

I'm not a smoker but I don't mind having a smoking roommate. Which do I pick???

These should all be optional, right? If I recall correctly, I don’t think you’re required to select any of them. If you’re required to, just go with the second one. It won’t really change anything, I doubt.

it made me pick one so i picked the second one. thanks:)

Yeah, I think they view every student as a “non-smoker” because they expect everyone to know not to smoke indoors. So whether or not your roommate smokes shouldn’t really make a difference, according to them. But if you have asthma then they will make sure you are not with a roommate who smokes, even if just outside. I guess.
