Housing application: cannot specify choice of dorm

So D decided to get her housing app in early since it costs nothing and priority date matters in housing selections. After she logged in and clicked on "My Housing" the only choice was "submit my housing application". She clicked it, thinking that she will be asked about here choice in single vs triple, yada, yada, but nothing like that happened.

D will call housing Monday to see what is going on, does anyone have ideas? Thanks!

bumpity bump

You don't sign up for what type of room you want on your housing contract. That's done months from now.

I just submitted my contact information when I hit submit; it listed my address and phone number as "Summer Contact Information" so I assume that they'll contact us in the summer. :P

This happened to me too!!! When you call, please post back on this forum as to the problem =/

Read what I said.

You have to be going to UCSD 100% to do any of this, right? I don't want to do any of this yet because I still have to hear from other schools. Should I be doing it anyway?

Go ahead and fill out the housing application.. it's only like 3 questions and requires no commitment. I say this because supposedly housing priority for singles and doubles is based on the time you submit your original app. However, from my experience, it's completely random.

IlikeDice, RTFM, it says point-blank that you should submit the application even if don't know for sure you will go to UCSD.

john9222: what three questions? As I and a few others have noted on a thread, there is a single button "submit application" and no questions to answer. Did we miss something?

That's probably just it; last year I recall it being some simple questions about address and birthdate.

oh how i wish your daughter could see you, groovygeek. nobody respects a "wise" parent who's nasty.

thanks, though :D

RTFM = nasty? I must be getting old, or at the very least not keeping up with the level of political correctness.

You are welcome, though :=)

yeah you'll get an email a couple months later where they ask you questions about single/triple, and some random question to match you with somebody you'll be able to live with (if you get a triple). i got a single. =]

warren suites have 4 singles and 2 triples. (there's two suites on my floor that have doubles instead of triples but i think it's just because the assistant res dean lives under them haha.)

Thanks for clearing this up. I sent in my application and when all I got was the confirmation page, I was worried I was missing something :P

wow i am so glad someone asked this, i was worried too. do singles and doubles differ in cost? also do apartments and dorms differ? thanks.

yeah (duh, why wouldn't they?) ... you should give the HDS website a look-see.

yeah singles are more expensive than doubles. i think it's about 750 more a year. i had to pick between a single and a triple since warren doesn't have doubles in the res halls and i pay 1500 more a year than my suitemates that have a triple.

apartments and res halls don't differ in price if you're comparing same type of rooms. a double in an apartment costs the same as a double in a res hall.
