Housing assignments are out

We dont offically find out till the 2nd but I called. I'm in ragans. Single dorm :-) yay!!

I dont have to cater to someone else's needs for the summer =]

WOW! You got a great choice. Lucky you.

Swimming against the tide here...my younger daughter now lives in Ragans after having spent freshman year in Reynolds. She misses the social interaction of Reynolds. Of course, most of her friends are home for the summer.

Ragans is quiet and you get some space to yourself, but it's not a "social" dorm like some others. I'd say it's more for upperclassmen.

I'd suggest Ragans is not an ideal freshman dorm for those who are inclined to want lots of interaction...which certainly is part of being a freshman - making new friends and acquantances.

Since Bari is a little older than some of the freshmen, I think she is going to be really happy to have a real apartment rather than a dormitory. She will still have 3 other apartment-mates who may be older students and will be able to show her the ropes too. Just be sure to join clubs or sports groups so you have plenty of extra curricular opportunities to make new friends.

Is this just for the summer or is this for fall too?

Bari, is it official that we will findout 2moro? Will it be by email?

I am pretty sure you get a snail mail letter with your housing assignment and the contact information for your roommate for the FALL.

i got broward for summer woot!

Its only for summer, Yeah everyone else got broward, cawthon or gilchrist. Umm, Im chatting with one of dormmates now, she already a soph there.

I'm glad to be having my own room for summer. =] I hope I make alot of friends though not just upperclassmen.

I found out through the site like two days ago but i got the letter today to confirm.

Well I foundout today through the mail, a bit disappointed I kinda wanted a single but instead got a double in gilchrist. Whatever i dont mind having a roomate but for some reason I just wanted some privacy during summer.

I just have one question, whats the difference between a quad and a double, is a quad 4 people in a room with a bathroom-while a double is basically two people in a room sharing a bathroom with an ajoining room?

Lastly when are fall assignments going out? Although I already know i got degraff since i'm in the social science living community.

If you stayed in salley for orientation, I think thats a quad. Two rooms, two people in each sharing one bathroom.

I think the double's, have common bathrooms.

I got Gilchrist for fall and Degraff (one of the new dorms) for fall....double is when you have four people sharing one bathroom right? At least that's what I had understood

I got 816 kellum for fall and 1412 ragans for summer.

I got degraff, but i dont think the priority number system works...a friend of mine had number 5000 something and listed degraff as first choice he ended up in salley....another friend 6000 something priority number listed degraff first and got degraff....so its kinda like what the heck is happening///

Lol, Yeah we have already established that. I actually listed kellum as my first choice and I got it. LMAAO!! I dont care what kellum is like, I care about the friendship's I'm going to make and going to treasure for the rest of my life. wink

If cost is a concern, the older hall style dorms like Kellum are much more affordable then the suite dorms and you are not required to purchase a meal plan so this may work out better for students with financial constraints. Some students feel these dorms make it easier to meet other students and like having the bathrooms cleaned by housekeeping.

Cool. I hear it's very social. :)

Ack! Did you guys find out just about the summer session, or did people also hear about the fall one? I've been so excited, but haven't heard anything!

Summer found out on friday, Fall finds out this week. I just got my letter in the mail today but I called on monday and they told me over the phone.

Yeah I just got the letter. I didn't even have Kellum in my top four. But with the 5000ish priority number, I should have expected it. So yeah! I guess we're in the same dorm!

My daughter was put in a temporary assignment in Deviney and we just found out they were able to place her in Dorman. THis is great logistically because she'll be close to Bellamy for her classes.

Just wondering what she can expect as far as size of rooms, furniture, etc. Also, does anyone know if they have a kitchen?

She will want to cook. She's a vegetarian and prefers to maker her food. This is why we put the suite/apartments at the top of our list, but her number was above 6000 so she was lucky to get a room period.
