housing assignments

so I checked my duke bursar account and i have been billed 2575 for housing. This is the double non a/c price. Does anybody know whether this means that I got a double no a/c room or have only been charged this much for now because this is the standard and everybody gets charged the same amount for real assignment are made? And by the way, when do we really find out about roommates and room assignments since I haven't been able to find a date?

you don't have A/C...sorry bout that.

Me too... but then I expected it.

How did you guys find this housing information out?

A C E S . :)

What does a price of $3095 mean on you East Campus Housing bursar bill?

thats a double w/ac

So $2575 means it's a double with no AC? Cool with me.

06/25/2007 Housing-East Campus 3400.00

O_O Is that a single? Can I change it to double?

Yeah Senator Noodles, that's a Single w/o AC. I don't know about changing it though. Maybe you can contact the housing office or something?

Are you a current Duke student? If so, would you recommend I change it?

SN - all depends on if you want to be hot and alone.

:)

^hahahahaha

How do you figure out what kind of dorm you got?

Double w/o AC for me as well. I would not want to spend $500 for AC anyways, so it's all cool. If you have a medical reason, can't you rent a unit for $100?

If you had medical reasons it's put in for you at no cost and your financial aid package will be adjusted to compensate.

no, they still charge you for it. they said you can talk to the financial aid people for compensation, but for those with little financial aid, it's unlikely to change.

Yeah, that's what I should've said, I apologize.

Getting an AC for medical reasons means you will be charged the standard rate for an AC room. However, for those who do go that route to get an AC, it must mean that they are A) willing to pay for it or B) have financial aid which will cover it. There is, after all, no such thing as a free lunch.

If I recall correctly you guys should be finding out about your housing assignments pretty soon here. (like begining of July)

Also, don't fret about not getting AC. Its more expensive and some of the Non AC dorms are the best! (PEGRAM! and Basset is cool too)

Does anyone have a list of the AC and non-AC dorms?

Just wondering where my options are at this point :)
