Putturani: I just finished my freshman year in Parrish, and I loved it. Since it’s the only dorm split by gender, the culture varies a little bit, but as a girl I really enjoyed it. There aren’t many freshmen on the halls, but you bond with the ones who are there a LOT. Sometimes it can be a bit oppressively quiet, but you can always go to another dorm to socialize, and it’s great always being able to work in your room. I think things are a little wilder on the boys’ side, but I also think that had a lot to do with the particular group who lived there this year. Also, the central location is WONDERFUL. I never noticed a problem with people stopping by all the time - there were never nearly as many strangers on my hall as there were on my friends’ - and the fact that I could wake up five minutes before class started and have a reasonable chance of getting there on time, no matter the building (albeit with lots of sprinting to get ready) was great. Also, I loved having the mail room in my building. I never had to tote packages all over campus like my friends did. A little thing, but deeply appreciated. I’ll definitely miss it this year!

Daughter was on 4th floor Parrish her first year. Loved it. A core group of girls on the hall have stayed close since then - in choosing an all-female hall the girls that year, at least, found long-term friends. Her room was really cute - with a sloped ceiling (look at outside Parrish photos to see how the window on the 4th floor would do that) and cubby hole closets. Lots of character - as realtors say about old houses. My own dorm in college had cement block walls in institutional blue and gray linoleum floors so that is my point of comparison.

libartsmom: My daughter is a junior this year also on the 4th floor of Parish. We loved the room - as you described it - lots of light and like being in an old house. She and her roommate were very excited about decorating it! Best of all it overlooks the rose garden!
She was in an adjoining Willets double last year - she hated it! Guess because she got spoiled with a Wharton room freshman year! LOL

Hm. Wharton, Willets, Parrish . . . why does this sound so familiar? :D
