Housing at Vassar?

How are the dorms? Are the bathrooms shared in all of the dorms and are they shared only freshman year or all years?

I see you have asked the same question for each of the schools you are considering. Housing and food is hardly the way to choose a school! It’s not camp.

Excuse me, I just want to find out more information. Obviously it is not the only factor, but seeing as I’m going to spending the next 4 years of my life at a place I do want to get more information on things like housing and food. I’ve done other research, but I figured posting here wouldn’t hurt. If you’re not going to answer my question, please don’t bother posting here. Thanks.

Hey I am bumping this thread because I am an attending Vassar next year and want to know more about it.

The dorms (houses) are all different, but there is something to love about all of them. Some of them are AMAZING! Hardwood floors, lots of woodwork in the rooms, no cinder block walls. Bathrooms are gender neutral in all houses except for Strong which is the women-only dorm. Each shower had a door that shuts and locks and goes floor to ceiling, so you can change clothes in there and go in and out completely clothed. Super private. Not an issue for most people. All classes are mixed on the floors, so there is not difference for the different classes. When you are a senior you can continue living in the dorms or live in a TH (town house) with other students if you want. You can also continue living in the houses.

In Strong there may be male guests who use the bathroom. Just to let you know! It’s a female dorm but there aren’t rules about how late a male guest can stay. So all bathrooms are potentially gender neutral. Strong also has (had?) bathtubs with feet, which is fun.
