Housing Change

So this might be a silly question...and please don't get mad at me, but would it be ridiculous if I requested a housing change?

For my housing preferences, I listed that I'd really like to live in a living learning community. My first choice was Turman and my second choice was Fevans. I was really tempted to list Hamilton Holmes as my first choice, but decided against it because at the time I registered for housing, there wasn't enough info on Emory's page regarding Hamilton's room size, co-ed floor information, programs/events, etc. I guess I was afraid to select a dorm I didn't know too much about.

And now when I look at Emory's page, there's more info about Hamilton and its programs, and well...basically I'm interested in it again. I've always been interested in creativity and the arts, but then again Hamilton might not follow through with its theme...

Would it be ridiculous to request a room change now? I've already received my housing assignment and roommate, so would this be a bad idea? I just really like what Hamilton seems to have in store for their students, but is that a good enough reason to request a change? Also, if I do request a change, do you think it's possible that I might lose my spot at Turman?

Sorry for asking so many questions...But the help would be much appreciated. Thank you! :)

It is my educated guess that Hamilton Holmes was one of the most popular choices, because it is a new dorm. My S, signed up for a living learning community and was not assigned to a dorm with a living learning community. Thus I would think it would be hard to change based on the popularity of the dorm and the popularity of the living learning communities. Not everyone that wanted to be in a living learning community was assigned to living learning community dorm. There will be a lot of different activities to get involved in at Emory beyond the dorm activity. Be happy you are in Turman, it is a very nice dorm.

With all of that said in my previous comment, Emory does make it easy to request a change. Why not complete the requested change and see if anything happens. If it does great, if it does’t you are still in a good place at Turman.

It never hurts to ask. Might as well give it a try. There are always students that don’t show up in the fall.
