housing

I just got accepted to emory early decision. any ideas for nice dorms?

i dont really like the complex, means or trimble. longstreets eh, alabamas good and dobbs has small rooms but good location. i wish i had lived in turman (altho most ppl will tell you stay away from that one) bc everyone in turman (which is a lot of ppl) are very close and its nice to have that plus while its far from main campus, the shuttle will take you right to the door of your classes, so locations not an issue and i think the rooms are fairly big

ALABAMA: rooms are big so not much socialization. very hard to get.
MCTYEIRE: i've heard it called very jappy but big rooms. also very hard to get.
TRIMBLE: along with the top 2, used to be upperclass housing so rooms relatively bigger than the rest. although a "safety" to alabama and mctyeire, everybody i know that lives there loves it--only about 100 students so big enough but tight group. only about 20 ft from mctyeire so pretty centrally located.
TURMAN: far walk, students usually take a shuttle. these people are usually the ones who a.) had no luck with webroomz and got their last choice, or b.) are lazy slackers and were simply placed here. very tight group, though. i've heard stories about wild drinking on "Turman Tuesdays."
DOBBS: very small rooms but beautiful building and the best location.
COMPLEX: dont really know much. basically a 3 dorm complex so a ton of students live here.
MEANS: older building, not sure about the rooms, right across the street from dooley's.
LONGSTREET: older building and it smells but a lot of residents like it.
HARRIS: beautiful building, very few residents.

hey...just wondering...who gets first preference for rooms...do early decision students get first choice?....and what exactly is webroomz, how does it work?

There's really a dorm named Trimble??

For first year housing, no one has preference. Housing says it's all random and that seems to be true.

I was just wondering... what's that one in particular like?

trimble? the rooms are a good size, and the buildings nice...the locations not as good as mctyeire, dobbs, alabama, and i would say its not as good (location wise) as longstreet either though.

we got to choose our rooms last year, it wasnt random. but maybe they changed that this year? they had a lot of issues with it...

Selection time is random, not housing. Trimble is literally 20 ft. from McTyeire and right across the courtyard from Longstreet.

how does roomate selection go?

How about the bathrooms?!

Before you pick housing you complete a survey on Webroomz about yourself. It then gives you your top 10 compatable matches and you can message them and so forth. You can also meet people through Learnlink and talk to them on your own. Some people just don't bother and are randomly placed.

As far as I know, no freshman hall has private bathrooms. They are community bathrooms, usually one for each sex on each floor.

When can you complete the survey on Webroomz?

In the spring after the RD'ers are accepted.

triples in alabama have private bathrooms
