I was wondering if anyone knew when it was too late to apply for housing in the fall. I’m not as concerned with hall I will be put in, I was more concerned with not being placed in supplemental housing.
If you are a current student go to Eliving right now and register for housing. The lottery is tomorrow Feb 5th. If you are an incoming freshman you must pay your security deposit first. As long as you have your deposit in my Early March you should avoid supplemental housing
Is it ok to accept the housing and pay deposit and not go if we hear back from other college.since my D is awaiting upitt decision and she is exactly not sure whether she want to go to psu or upitt if they accept Do you loose anything other then deposit .Are you blacklisted for future. Just wanted to make sure she gets the right housing of preference .wating to accept later may give housing problems. Any suggestions?
@sulu If nothing has changed, then you just don’t get your deposit back, but nothing is really done other than that if you withdraw your acceptance of the offer of admission.
Some people will say that you shouldn’t commit if you aren’t sure since it takes up a spot for other people, but in your case, I wouldn’t listen to that. To me, those comments are more directed to people who accept offers at multiple schools while they decide. In general, I’m sure there are plenty of kids who accept and then withdraw if they get an offer somewhere else or they change their minds.
Keep in mind that Penn State and Pitt are vastly different campuses with vastly different feels and availability of athletics etc… Usually one is a better fit than the other. I think it’s a pretty rare kid that loves both just because they are so different. I went to both schools and have taught at Pitt, so I can say that lol. I am, however, a blue and white gal through and through so I guess you can tell which one I prefer! However each kid is different.
If she’s not sure, accepting at Penn State and then withdrawing will only merit the loss of your deposit. Double check that - that’s how it’s always been but things do change sometimes!
Good luck!
Thanks@jlhpsu for your response.
