I’m almost positive that I am going to attend Alabama after I visited there! I still want to wait to hear from all the schools I applied to, which might take til January. If I want to get Honors Housing (not sure which tower), what is the latest that I can deposit and still have a good shot at getting into one?

Apparently, they have taken down last year’s schedule. The bottom line is that you’ll have a better chance to get your first choice of Honors Housing the sooner you pay the deposit. You can also use your place in line to pull in the roommates you want. AND, all but $25 of the housing deposit is refundable should you choose to go elsewhere.

Another good link is the FAQ on the UA site:

AND, all but $25 of the housing deposit is refundable should you choose to go elsewhere.

True, but in order to make the housing deposit you need to pay the enrollment deposit, which is $200 and not refundable. So it’ll cost you $225 if you end up not going to Bama. We decided it was a price worth paying and made the deposit even though D hasn’t definitely decided on Bama yet.

Yes, you forfeit the enrollment deposit and $25 housing application fee if you choose to go elsewhere. If you are pretty sure you are going to Tuscaloosa then it’s worth the money. If not, you might do better waiting. There seems to be enough Honors Housing for the freshmen that want it, even if you decide in the Spring.

Just to clarify…Honors Housing consists of:

Ridgecrest South - North Tower (south tower isn’t honors)
Ridgecrest West
Lakeside West
Riverside East and West…I think Riverside North is mixed.

Ridgecrest South - North Tower seems to fill up first, so if that’s desired early depositing is needed.

I don’t know if that new hall will be honors or not.
