Hi - I was recently admitted to UCD as a junior transfer student for fall 2015. I have to submit housing application. Can anyone suggest me which one is less expensive living off campus or living on campus? and I need some off campus Apartments info.
are they allowing transfers to live in the dorms again, or is this for the on-campus apartments like The Colleges at La Rue?
I checked online and they said priority is reserved for incoming freshmen.
I recently attended a campus tour (I will be applying for Fall 2016) and they said ALL Davis students a gaurenteed 2 years availability of on campus housing, that included Freshmen and transfer. I do not know if they are dorms or apartments though.
For my sophomore year, they put us in student housing apartments because there was no room in the dorms. For this year, I know of sophomores who were placed in the dorms and I know of sophomores who were placed in student housing apartments. I’m not sure if there’s still room in the dorms for sophomores and transfers, but the student housing apartments should definitely be open.
That said, the student housing apartments are also way overpriced. See if you can find an opening in a different complex (or the same complex, but not through student housing) before going with a student housing apartment.
For transfers, I think sopranokitty’s year was the last year they were actually in the dorms. I know that they’ve had student housing apartments available to transfers the past few years at least.
@PhantomVirgo: it was actually the year after my year that was the last year transfers were in the dorms. Though compared to my year where transfers lived in both Emerson and Webster, the incoming 2012-2013 class was limited to only Webster Hall. I only know this because my sister (who transferred to UCD the year after me) missed her chance at getting a dorm spot since she SIR’d late due to waiting for UCI’s decision.
Prior to my year, every single transfer lived in Castilian Hall (a lot further away from campus than Cuarto), but they closed that down the summer before I came there. Wish I knew the reason.
