Housing, Fall 2015

I applied on the 11th of Feburary. I’m hoping for the suites, but I highly doubt it that I’ll get in.

are you a guy? I’ve noticed that the waitlist for guys is longer??

I think there’s still a chance since people will start canceling as they get acceptances from other schools

Yes I’m a male. I took your advice on not paying the 450. I’m going to wait it out sice we have plenty of time left. Are you a female? Does that make a difference on housing ?

sorry i think you have the wrong person on that? I thought you have to pay the $450 to complete your application? though that might not matter if you’re on the waitlist…

yea i am female, I’m not sure but it seems like they have longer waitlist positions. it might just be a coincidence.

When I called they said I can pay the deposit whenever before the due date. I’ll double check again on Monday.

oh i see! then if thats true then it would be better to wait until you’re more certain or you move up on the wait list

I called today and they told me to check back mid June to see where I stand if not I would have to apply for the village. 2400 rooms available and I’m top 325. Hoping for the best. So as of now I’ll wait on paying the initial payment.

@ka0sControl Did they tell you not to pay the initial payment yet? That’s the $450, right?

I’m quite confused as to if my application went through since I didn’t receive an email saying whether I was on the waitlist or if I’d actually gotten placed…

@autumnsunshine‌ They told me not to pay since my wait list number is high since I may not get into the suites, but for me to call mid June to check for a status update. I’m assuming you applied for the suites/dorms, so give it a couple days for your application to be in there system. Did you recently apply for housing? Whenever you get the email from housing, I suggest that you call them to see if you are on there waiting list.

Yeah they haven’t updated the list yet. But when I called this morning, the person with whom I spoke said that since I paid the $450, that helps my chances of being higher on the waitlist, or something like that. And that as long as I don’t cancel my application, I’ll remain on the waitlist until another space opens up. (But also that I could get a refund as long as I informed them a month before school starts.)

Also, @ka0sControl, did you get an email confirming you were on the waitlist in addition to being told over the phone?

when did you apply for housing? I applied on the 11th of February. I got an email saying i was on the waiting list @autumnsunshine‌. I also called to see where i was on there waiting list. I know for sure its a first come first serve basis on when applicants apply for housing.

Yeah I didn’t apply until the beginning of this month, since my admission status didn’t come in till 28 Feb. The rep from the housing dept. said that the holding deposit helped my chances, but I guess it doesn’t matter then >_>

@autumnsunshine I didn’t get an email about my being on the waitlist until like weeks after i applied. So it might take a long while before you get any email. I also worried that my application hadn’t gotten through but it did!

For those who are on the waitlist, is that just for the suites? Do the dorms have a waitlist as well?

@slofan‌ I believe the dorms also have a waiting list but I’m not sure. It’s best for you to double check with housing.

Aghhh @nofunever this waiting is awful because I actually need housing at Pomona; I’m not close enough to commute right now and I don’t really know the area all that well. What number are you on the waitlist? And how many weeks do you think it took? I’m super anxious…

Also, have your student emails been working? I can’t seem to access mine. It’ll go to the CPP server page, but then says my account doesn’t exist…

@autumnsunshine‌ as I told another member who had was wondering the same thing. You’ll have access to cpp email once you’re fully enrolled, so for now all emails from the school will redirect to your personal email.

@ka0sControl I didn’t know that question had already been answered, so thank you for answering again
I’m not sure if you answered this already too, but did the email you received have your waitlist number on it?

They emailed me saying I was put on the waiting list, so i called housing to see where i’m on there list. If you receive an email from them about housing and that you’re on the waiting list, its best for you to call as well.
