Housing for an admitted transfer

Just got accepted a couple days ago and i’m trying to find what would be my best option as far as housing. I would be coming in as a junior, I don’t really want to be stuck with a bunch of underclassmen. I know there are some off campus options that are close to campus, but i’m not sure how that would work with finding a roommate. Any suggestions would be great.

the most common places for upperclassmen to live are the berkshire or the avalon. these are the apartment buildings maybe a 5 minute walk from campus, if that. theyre very close. they have apartments there and I think they can be for 2-4 or possibly more people. i also know they have studios in the berkshires. if you call AU they should be able to help you out more and maybe give you the names of other transfer students. but there were some juniors who lived in anderson this year, the newest and nicest dorm on campus. i dont know if thats gonna be the case this year because therye changing the housing system, but its worth asking AU about

At AU it can be less expensive to live off campus than on. Many upperclass persons live off campus. There are lots of housing options, but being a “solo” it might be a bit trickier. You might be able to find a sublet for someone who has roommates but is going abroad for the semester. I would start with the housing office and find out where are the places that students post for roommates wanted, etc. Also there might be some info on you AU portal.

Haven’t used it myself, but heard this site is good: [American University Off Campus Housing Service - Home](American University | Off-Campus Housing Search)
