Housing for Stanford's Admit Week 2017

I plan to use airbnb for Stanford’s Admit Week in April. Stanford’s guest house is charging ~$150 per night for the cheapest room. I am on a tight budget. Can someone offer some advice on what would be the best option for someone on a tight budget? I wish I knew another parent so I can share a room with to split the costs.

$150 per night is very cheap for that area unless you get a cheap hotel 20 miles away from Stanford. If you have a car, it’s doable. Maybe you can find a room somewhere remotely close for several days, or maybe another Stanford parent who has an available room near Stanford can help you. Note that other hotels tag on tax and other costs so I chose Stanford Guest House to stay. Don’t know if it’s available now.

Hi mum1s2d. I live at Stanford and I have an incoming freshman. My advice would be to investigate Redwood City. As an example, there is a nice budget hotel called The Euro in the heart of downtown. It’s about 7 miles from the university, but it is very close to a Caltrain stop. You can hop on and be at the Palo Alto station in minutes and from there it is a doable walk to the center of campus. If you have mobility issues, you might need to Uber or rent a car. As a bonus, downtown Redwood City is cute and fun. There are other budget motel options there as well. Good luck, and congratulations on your child’s acceptance. Stanford is a wonderful place.

Thank you websensation and riley2 for your advices. I will look into Redwood City. Thank you again!
