Housing for transfer students admitted for Spring 2016

As you may know, temporal housing is not available for spring transfer students. Since one has to arrive in Minneapolis about a week before the beginning of class in order to attend mandatory orientations, he/she has to stay at a nearby motel/hotel for a week, which will cost about $1k. So, I’m proposing to share a room of motel/hotel with me in order to save your money. If you know any better alternative, could you tell me that (e.g. sharing a room with returning student)?

hi,
did u get into the spring transfer or are u waitlisted and which major did u get into?

@aran12 that’s a really good idea. Another one you might consider is looking into AirBnB which is an online Bed&Breakfast “sharing economy” facilitator. People use AirBnB to rent out their extra space (a room or a suite, for instance) and you can often get much better rates than the conventional hotel as a result. I just checked real quick and found several rooms available for $60 a night near the U of MN (I just plugged in early January dates - not sure of your exact ones). Public transportation is readily available (LR or bus) as well if the weather is poor. Minneapolis/St. Paul is pretty safe but you are welcome to PM me if you are asking about a particular area. Read the feedback from other guests as well because it will be invaluable.

We’ve used AirBnB on college visits and have been able to stay in New York for extremely affordable prices compared to hotels. It’s a great option both for college kids or their parents who are visiting.

Good luck!

Thanks for that information, Mamelot! I was aiming for $60, and you gave me the exact answer.

Needtogetinuomn, I got admitted for spring transfer as a math major of CLA.

what were ur stats and which state do u live in? im currently waitlisted for cla and im going for econ

@aran12

My college GPA isn’t that high, but I took many senior-level courses, which was probably the key.

did u take calc 1?
