Housing Help! Please!

Hey everybody, I'm in a complete panic and I hope somebody can help me out. Currently I'm relegated to a double suite at Rubin Hall. The problem is I planned my TuitionPay and all that good stuff around getting into a LCT at Rubin Hall. This is pretty much a deal breaker; my parents can only afford to pay tuition without taking a loan out IF I got the LCT housing. So I did as they instructed and sent an email in about my predicament and requesting a change.

Is there anybody that knows whether they are likely to help me out? Does anybody have any insight or there own stories to share to help me out? Greatly appreciated, thanks!

I’m sure if you sent them an e-mail explaining the full extent of your situation then they will do thier best to change your dorm. The only thing you can do is continue to contact housing until you get a response.

Well they told me that it should take a week before they sort it out (cause they are getting alot of these I suppose). Should I contact them again before? Cause I don’t want to bug them too much…

This is NYU we’re talking about here. This school is run by do-it-yourself students who don’t wast time or take BS. Now make it happen.

I also called them to get my dorm change and I feel like, they just keep telling me the same thing over and over again and I feel like nothing is going to be done about it.

make your parents call. they’re the ones paying the tuition so NYU will actually listen.

Yeah I agree with Yahoo! I tried calling in again and they completely dismissed me. They told me that they would be finished with sorting the requests within a couple of weeks. So basically I’m going to know what dorm I’m in 3 days before I fly out.

@missamericanpie: My parents are not exactly Engreesh fwendwee. Otherwise I would’ve made them call in the first place.

My parents were the same way when I was younger. (I’m Filipina.) I used to have my aunt call and pretend she was my mom, as she spoke much better English.

Haha I was thinking of having my friend call because the rest of my family is not English fluent either.

Do you think there is any way I can pressure them to speed it up myself? I want to be nice about it, but it’s really starting to tick me off.

@killcity I already sent them two emails, made three phones calls, even made my sister call as my mom. They still give me the same BS answer they give everytime. I know how you feel. It’s really ticking me off right now.

they’re also probably swamped with room request changes, from the serious ones such as killcity’s to stupid ones “wahh i’m at 26th street”. just to give some perspective.

Well what I want to know is if anyone had a similar issue and had it resolved in speedy order?

I am a transfer student and I wanted lost cost housing, but obviously they didn’t care about that.

Did it ever occur to you folks that they probably got more requests for LCT than they have. Of course knowing NYU they probably also placed students in LCT who did not request one. I was in one of the Rubin corner suites as a freshman. I was in the double and we shared the bath with the LCT. Made alot of good freshman friends that still stay in touch as juniors this year.

Finally they send me an email back. I hope thats a good sign.

I still haven’t gotten any emails yet. When did you send them an email? Lol I checked the notification box to confirm when the email was read, and it was…but no hits as of right now.

@killcity I send my email to them a week ago. it was just a email telling me they got my email and they are taken it into consideration.
