Frist: Middle Earth or Mesa Court?
Second: If my friend and I list each other as preferred roommates, what are the chances we will actually end up together given we list all of the same preferences?

Thank you!

Thank you!

ME: Closer to classes. Closer to Pippin’s and Brandywine.

Mesa: A little farther, nicer rooms.

I lived in ME, but I don’t think it makes too much of a difference where you choose to live.

Chances are really good that you two get each other. Just make sure you fill out everything the same way/similar and submit it on time.

Middle Earth: It has the better places to eat in my opinion (Pippin and Brandywine), it’s a lot closer to your classes.

Overall everything is nice in Middle Earth, but if you decide to go with that one hope you get a Phase 2 or a Phase 3, the Phase 1 dorms are really small.

Mesa Court: A lot farther from classes, but if you like a good walk everyday then it shouldn’t be a problem. Generally bigger rooms depending on the hall you get.

Downside, the Commons. -___- Eh, I really go to Pippin or Brandywine as much as I can because I can’t stand Mesa food.

if you’re an arts/humanities student, i think mesa is closer…

is it true ME has nastier bathrooms? hahaha serious question…bathrooms are important.

Not true, at all. What makes the bathrooms nastier are the PEOPLE using them.

Its merely a luck of the draw. Are the people in your suite nasty? Then your bathroom will be nasty.

The biggest differences between the two are Mesa has bigger rooms and is farther from class, while Middle Earth has smaller rooms and is literally located near the center of campus and where all your classes will most likely be.

In terms of food, Middle Earth is unanimously voted better with Pippin and Brandywine, while Mesa Court falls short with Commons. However, you can go to any of the three you choose as long as you have a meal plan so food really isn’t an issue (unless you’re too lazy to walk across campus like i am).

In terms of liveliness and people, it’s really random. This year i feel like Middle Earth is a bit more lively than Mesa Court but it doesn’t matter much. It REALLY depends on what people you get in your hall, generally the general interest and phase 1-2 halls are more lively than say the academic excellence halls.

To answer your last question, you’re almost guaranteed to room together so don’t trip. Although my advice is honestly, don’t dorm with a friend. Privacy will be better with a friend and you know each other but you won’t branch out and meet half the amount of people you would if you got a random roommate. Plus, if you always get a bad roommate, you can request a change and i think i know a couple of people who did that this year.

See you on campus next year.
