I am a female going to be a freshman and Im looking for some good choices for housing. I want to be able to pledge so I guess I want to be near sorority row. Im going to be in the nursing program hopefully and I think I would like to be in a coed dorm. If possible I would like to be in a newer suite style dorm. Any suggestions?

It isn’t near Sorority Row, but Wildwood is where the Nursing Living-Learning Community is located:

Hghschjunior, you and I sound exactly the same (:

Honestly, housing choices at FSU almost solely comes down to personal choice.

If you want a community style dorm, then Wildwood won’t be for you, as it is suite style. If you want a suite style dorm, it might be a good choice.

If you want to be near Sorority Row, you will want to be on the east-side of campus. Unfortunately, there’s no east-side community dorms, although Dorman and Deviney are much closer than Smith or Kellum.

Honestly, it is a great idea to put in your housing application ASAP once you get accepted, and then spend some decent time over your Christmas Break from school getting familiar with the FSU Housing website. They have a LOT of good information, and it really should be your first stop for ANY FSU Housing info.

The east side dorms are more convenient to most of the sorority houses. All the suite-style dorms (except Degraff, Wildwood and Salley) require a meal plan. If you pledge a sorority, you will be able to eat at the house (which you pay for in your dues). My daughter pledged a sorority and lives in an east side dorm, so I am currently paying for meals both at the house and at the dining hall. The dining facility and her sorority house both gave her a discount on meals, but I am still paying more than I would if she was living elsewhere. Her sorority gives a discount, but I don’t know what the others do. Her east side dorm is very convenient to both classes and the sorority, but financially you should consider this when making your decisions.
