Hello!
I’m currently a junior in high school and I’ve been looking up information on FSU – specifically housing and then the nursing program. I’m about to visit the college in June so I realize some of my questions will be answered there. However, I was wondering what housing is “best” and how getting into the college of nursing goes (such as, do I need to apply to it as a freshman so I don’t waste two years and then get rejected?).
Some of the information I have read online is conflicting and making me slightly confused. I figured this would be my best option.
Thank you in advance.
Hi @AlexH1208 ,
I’m no expert but my daughter is entering as a pre-Nursing “Not Formally Admitted (NFA)-Nursing" in Fall 2016. FSU is not a direct entry program for incoming Freshmen, but I think if you do well and stay on the roadmap outlined I don’t think it will be too difficult to gain entry to the two year BSN program. As for housing, my daughter is joining the Nursing LLC at Wildwood which gives her access to pretty good housing from what we saw and will help her acclimate to the University and Nursing program/profession. I’m looking forward to see how her experience will turn out (hoping for the best), but I think she has everything she needs to be successful.
Here are the pre-reqs for Nursing:

Hope that helps.
@wvalx2001 The only thing to keep in mind with Wildwood is that on Saturdays, she will hear the Chiefs practicing. If she’s not a marching band fan she might want to bring along a white noise machine.
@AlexH1208 The definition of “best” is subjective. It depends on what you want. If you have good enough grades and scores, I’d suggest you apply for the Honors college when you get the invitation. Honors freshmen live in Landis and while it’s a pretty typical dorm and requires a meal plan, it’s not bad. Plus you have the advantages of knowing where you’ll live and being right on the green, plus early registration and everything else that goes with Honors.
Other than that, just make sure to apply for admission by the early deadline (October) and get your housing deposit in as soon as it opens, even if you’re not sure you’re going to choose FSU. It’s refundable if you don’t attend, and a lower housing lottery number is worth it.
