Housing initial status report HELP

i have a roommate that i want to room with so we both applied together on the website. we put the same settings and we also put each others student numbers.. however, recently an email was sent out by UW about this and this is what we got.

My message:

We have not yet completed autumn room assignments. However, based on your priority status of 2 and your application date, we have determined that you will receive housing in a double or standard room for the beginning of autumn quarter.

My roommate's Message
We have not yet completed autumn room assignments. However, based on your application date and your priority status of 2, we have determined that you will receive housing in SIC. You will be assigned to either a triple, double or standard type in this community

the message that follows in both our emails:

While we are unable at this time to determine whether or not you will be assigned with your mutually-requested roommate, you may be able to assess the likelihood yourself by comparing the information above (room type and Special Interest Community, if applicable) with the information that your mutually-requested roommate receives. If you are to be assigned to a different room type or Special Interest Community, it is unlikely that you will be assigned together. On the other hand, if you are to be assigned to the same room type and Special Interest Community, there is a reasonable chance that you will be assigned together.

so ***? why are we assigned to different communities.. my friend didnt even apply to SIC.. so does this mean we're not rooming together?

My son is taking Early Start and a friend that he was going to room with (like you, they had both designated each other as potential roommates) is not. My son was given his room asssignment yesterday (Lander 5th floor) and also received notification that he had been selected to participate in a pilot program that allowed him to change his room for Autumn quarter if he did not like his initial assignment (beginning today). His potential roommate, on the other hand, received an email that indicated he might end up with a different assignment. It was consistent with the email your friend received suggest he might even end up in a triple!

My son contacted Housing and changed his room (he's now in Terry) and also brought up the roommate issue. They checked the files and informed my son that they would assign his friend to the same room.

Ultimately, what may have made this possible was my son's participaton in the pilot program but I would definitely call Housing to see if you can firm up the roommate selection.

bump

i need more info guys

thanks to bmilstead tho =D

Did you try calling the housing office? That's what I would do.

mmy friend called and the person said "you're probably not going to room with your requested roommate because you guys are seperated by the SIC"

sladkfhshlafsdflkja god dammit
