Today is the day everyone should be getting the results of the housing lottery! I'm interested in how many 09s get their top choice.

im sooo~ excited!! 5PM EST, only 3 hours to go!!

I hope I get one of my top 3...

Question: we sort of decide our roomates later on right?

Almost everybody gets one of their top three (and I'm glad that you are diverse enough to expect to be comfortable in as many as three dorms - that's actually quite rare). You'll you assigned a roommate/roommates right away (unless you get temp'ed in a single like I was). A lot of times people just stick it out with whoever they get temp'ed with, but your dorm should have a separate in-dorm rush and room lottery.

According to Jessie Lowell, UA VP (at http://www.livejournal.com/community/mitmit/132075.html):

FWIW, insider reports say that all of you got something in your top 3 choices, and the large majority in your top 2.

..."you" being class of '09 :)

so, the room you're assigned is the room you'll be in during orientation?

I just got my rooming assingment and I was wondering if it tells you online who your roommate is. Another MIT '09er and I requested to be roommates, but nothing on my rooming assingment confirms that I'm in a double and the room I was assigned to is refered as a single on the Dorm website's floorplan. I do know that they sometimes crowd singles into doubles, so I was wondering if there was anyway I could find out if I'm in a double or single short of just contacting the person I chose to room with?

ETA: Never mind...I guess I just can't read, ;). I was actually placed in a double (in the Annex at McCormick, yay!!).

:) I got my first choice: McCormick
Sorry, am excited so I wanted to share:). Stupid question, but that also means I'm in RBA right?

I got my first choice as well! McCormick!

i got my first! baker!!...it doesnt say anything about a roomate on mine either, and i submitted it with a roomate.

Portlander and sidssana, I'm confused...how do we find out our rooms?

janeeyre: When you enter the housing lottery website, it not only tells you what dorm you are placed in, but also what room. The McCormick website has a floorplan (located here: http://web.mit.edu/mccormick/www/facilities/where_to_find_stuff.pdf) where you can check out where your room is.

I just read the notice from the RACs and found out they turned all the doubles into triples this year. :(

jane~ i hope this helps...

check page 5. it's a floor plan of the east and west towers.

Thanks! Man I really can't read. Hm...I think I'm in a "coffin"...or maybe I'm still totally confused.

im in a coffin too. what floor are you on?

731

Wonder how big the coffins are. I think I got a single b/c the letter I wrote to the dorm housing people was very eccentric...scared them haha.

im on the second floor.

i requested a single in hopes to get a suite, and i did! im looking for pics of the coffin, but no luck yet.

Does anyone know how to find information about the rooms in simmons (i.e. floorplans)?

hope that helps!

I had already checked that...but thanks anyway. I was looking for something that could show me where my room is.
