It seems that now is the time for DS to look into housing for next year - he will be a sophomore. He does not want to live in a dorm for another year - he is in Cope this year. What is the logical progression for a sophomore as far as housing? I don't really want him to move off campus yet for a variety of reasons (see thread on beer bust in dorm). Are there on-campus options that are more apartment-like? Any you would suggest?

I’ve lived in Calhoun Courts, Thornhill Village and Lightsey Bridge II. Lightsey Bridge II is the newest complex built on campus and would definitely be the nicer out of all of them (followed by - in order - Lightsey Bridge I, Calhoun Courts and lastly Thornhill Village).

It’s not uncommon for sophomores to live on-campus but after that, many choose to move off-campus (I stayed 3 years on campus).

Thanks again, Pierre. I gather that the process for sophomore year is the same as it was for freshman year in that you list your top three choices and then see what you get? Would it help him to have three roommates identified and lined up to apply together?

The sign-up process has changed in some form almost every year I’ve been here (freshman year people camped out for housing priority…sort of ridiculous but it’s now online). I would keep an eye out for an email in January/February about housing sign-ups. Sign-ups would usually happen in early-mid February. It would definitely help if you had people to fill an apartment together.
