I got an email a couple of weeks ago that the roommate arrangements were to be sent out on the 15th. However, I haven’t gotten an email yet confirming if I got a room in the dorms or not. Would I find out the same day as my potential roommate would? Or should have I already gotten that email and should be considering off campus housing?
As for the orientation scheduling and class assignments, are students that have been to orientation already able to pick and choose classes and make their schedules for the fall? Does that mean kids with the later dates pick their classes at their own time? Or does everyone make their schedules a couple weeks before classes start?
Not sure about housing (other than I think it sucks to have to live w someone you don’t know), I am local… But, I did orientation last week and that is when you sign up for classes. There is a hold on your account until then and they remove it so you can register… Later orientation date = less chance to get the classes you want.
I got the classes I wanted, keep checking bronco direct and see if the classes you want are filling up or not and adjust your schedule accordingly. EVERYONE has a unit cap of 13 units or 14 (engineering and a few others) when you register now… then EVERYONE can add more units/classes during add/drop mid September. That ensures people get a fair shot at the classes they want before the first people registering enroll in 20 units each that they would have to drop in the future from too heavy a workload…
Yeah, @PlantGeek pretty much covered everything as far as registering and orientation are concerned.
As for housing, however, if you haven’t received an email confirming that you’ve gotten a room in the dorms, then you likely haven’t as of yet. You wouldn’t receive an email about room arrangements either if your space hasn’t been confirmed. I would suggest calling the housing department to verify this before you make any other decisions. If they let you know that it’s unlikely that you’ll receive on-campus housing for this quarter, you could leave your holding deposit just in case, or you could withdraw your application altogether. I would suggest looking into other options after finding out if that is actually the case.
For me, I was pretty far down on the waitlist for a couple of months, and then around mid-June I got my space confirmed because people dropped out, and I got the email about room assignments yesterday evening.
