Housing Question: Triple

So my 2 of my friends and I applied for a triple (as incoming freshmen) and applied with Helen Newberry in mind--it is very important to us that we get an all-girls dorm. However, we later found out that Newberry has only 3 triples in total, which means our chances of getting one are very slim.

So I guess I have 2 questions:
1) Is there ANY chance of us getting an all-girls triple, or would it already be assigned to upperclassmen?
2) If we don't get the room, will we be assigned to a triple in another (co-ed) hall or would we be split into two separate dorm rooms?

I know that this is a very specific question, and not everyone might know the answer, but really--anything helps! Thanks in advance!

You’ll be split into two separate rooms if you don’t get a triple. The all-girls preference overrides the triple preference. If you choose that you want to live in all-girls housing, I believe that you’ll almost certainly be placed there.

Does the roommate preference override the all-girls preference?
(I remember reading somewhere that roommates come above all else, but I don’t recall it mentioning anything in regards to gender-specific housing.)

I can’t imagine that many upperclass(wo)men will be interested in a triple, for what that’s worth. By that point, people are usually trying to get single or double rooms, at the very least, and many have moved to off-campus housing.
