hi thanks for the help in advance anyways
i applied for housing (unit triple) but for financial reasons i want to try and get into the berkeley coop. Im a freshman and im on the waiting list, but i have eop. the coops wont start sending offers off their waiting list for a while. so my question is, if they dont send me an offer by the time the housing contract offer ends and i take the housing contract, but the coop sends me an offer after, could i rescind the contract? i head that ur contract termination needs to be approved and that if they dont find someone, u are held responsible for the fees.
so are there still people looking for unit housing contract during summer or would terminating the contract be risky?

If you accept your contract and decide later you want to cancel, you must have a replacement in order to be approved for the cancellation. You would be responsible for a cancellation fee. Let’s say you find out that you got into a coop in July, GREAT. FPF students still need to be offered housing, so you may have a replacement. But if you find out in August, chances aren’t so good for a cancellation. So I guess it really depends on the COOP system. Contact the Housing Office as soon as possible though.
