the housing offer and Contract

Heya people!! So the deadline to accept the housing offer is now past... and i got none of my 4 choices and ofcourse i am v v disappointed... i had been offered a std triple in unit 2 and accepted the housing offer nonetheless. i need a little help on the housing now, thanx in advance :D

can I appeal my decision? The e-mail reads- "Due to limited space we are unable to change offers at this time. If you would prefer to live elsewhere in the residence halls, you’ll need to accept this offer by the deadline to reserve your space and then send a message to reshall@berkeley.edu to be on the list for a later transfer of assignment. Transfers are not guaranteed. If you decline your offer instead, we will assume you are not interested in the residence halls at all and have found off-campus housing."
now this seems like the way to appeal the housing offered to me. if this is not the way, then how do i do so? if it is really the way, what exactly i have to put in the email? also (apart from single rooms) is there any kind of room which i am highly unlikely to receive if i appeal? or can i just request for my first choice in the appeal? how exactly shud i do dis???

i will be on the look for off-campus housing. if i do find something suitable before/just after i reach berkeley (before classes start) can i ask for a cancellation of my contract? i mean off-campus is much cheaper and will be more better than paying so much for on-campus when i dont even want it..

thanks again! all d help will be appreciated!!! :) :D x

also is the triple v v bad? i mean shared bathrooms, lack of personal space etc etc is nt v good?

please reply, i feel like i am in real trouble damn…

Yes, just like it says, you email them. Triples aren’t particularly popular, so you may or may not be able to move. It could also take a couple weeks into the school year. Some students manage to get out of their assignment by saying that the one they were given is too expensive, but I don’t see that working in your favor since you’re in a triple. :P

You can try. There’ll probably be a fee or something if you break the contract late. I had a roommate move out in the middle of the semester… she was gone within a day of wanting to leave, but I think she went and screamed at admissions until they let her out of it.

I haven’t lived in a triple, but they feel pretty cramped. The rooms are the same size as doubles, but the bunked/lofted beds are tall enough that it feels much smaller. The good news is you’ll become best buddies with your roommates, and the small room will encourage you to go outside more.

@failure622 thanx for your reply!!

 1. so in my email, shud I include reasons to shift out?? Also can I ask for like multiple choices?? for example if I want type A THE MOST, type B little lesser, type C after that, shud I write this in my email and request for A, then B, then C??
 2. did they exempt her of d money (12-17k) she was to pay for oncampus housing//
