Housing Question

Hey everybody im going to be a freshman at Cal Poly next year and I have received notification that I will be living in the Cerro Vista Apartments. Im a guy and my best friend is a girl and she’ll be in San Diego for school, but she wants to visit on the weekends as much as she can. I did some research and read the “Terms and Conditions” and the Licensing Agreement and I know that there is a overnight guest policy including approval from roommates and the RA, but it doesn’t specify if guests are gender exclusive. I am wondering if there are rules against her staying the night in my (locked) room and I would sleep on the couch because I don’t want her to have to stay in some motel miles off campus.
If anyone knows any specifics please post or message me!
Thanks!

No problem. My son’s longtime girlfriend visited him at Cal Poly last year when he was a freshman and stayed in his triple (no private room) in a red brick dorm. If that is possible, your situation will be even easier. As far as I know there are no restrictions on gender for guests as long as everyone else is cool with it.

In all honesty you really don’t even have to go through the “overnight guest policy”. I suppose that you are technically supposed to notify an RA/CA about an overnight guest but most students who have guests don’t go through any of those channels. Especially in Cerro Vista where your CA probably won’t even know who lives where an extra person in a private room will go completely unnoticed.
