Housing Question

This is a pretty stupid question, but I haven't even begun looking through housing options at NYU. In fact, I'm still deciding on a college but right now, I'm 70% sure I'm headed towards NYU. However, I don't plan to send my deposit until the last possible day.

My question is: Has everyone who knows they're going to NYU sent in housing applications already? Am I pretty much destined for a dorm no one wants because I'll be sending in housing stuff so late? I'm clueless about the housing situation right now...

Thanks.

o yeah i'd like an answer to this question too
i'm about to send in my deposit but am i a little late
i want to get low-cost housing
If i don't end up being offered that, can i just not dorm?

As long as you fill out your housing application before the deadline, you will have equal opportunity to list your housing preference. According to the housing office (which I have called three times regarding this question), the date you submit your application does not affect your housing priority because all the applications are processed in June.

unreal: i heard that from a few other people too.

moose: i think when you fill out the housing application you need to submit a $1000 deposit. so if you dont get the low-cost housing you want and you decide not to dorm, then you lose your $1000. but if that doesnt matter to you, then you dont have to dorm if you dont want to.
