Housing questions: mainly HILC

So basically I'm trying to figure out my best options. Pls help. : )

HILC.
It's my third year living in the US, I travel a lot on my own, study languages and am horribly excited about all things ~international~. And I live down south so it's great to leave your stuff over the winter. So I love the idea of Holland. But the practice? It's a Low Rise so how "bad" is it and what constitutes "bad"? And, most importantly, how are the residents? Does it just serve as a comfortable transition for international students, or is it an engaging place do be in? What's the vibe?

Dickson & Donlon.
I love the idea of having a single in a corridor. But what are the chances to get a single? And how is the sound isolation?

Jameson & Rise 7.
I love the suit idea (bathroom!) and location, but does it limit you socially?

Thanks in advance. :3

Hey NordicWarrior- HILC is a great place if you are interested in international issues and culture. The students living there are from all over the world and the US and they do a lot of activities where they introduce information about their countries and cultures to each other. It is also a smaller building so you are more likely to get to know other people. I think the low rises get a bad rap because they are not new and don’t look historic either. The rooms are suites and all the same size, which the older buildings can’t say. It is more about your attitude than anything else.

for singles for freshmen the chances are pretty good- there are a high number of singles in most buildings not jsut Dickson- though Donlon doesn’t have to many. Sound can be an issue no matter where you are- none of the buildings have sound proof walls but you just have to talk with your neighbors or your RA about noise policies.

Jameson and Low Rise 7 ( also High Rise 5 & Low Rise 6, because they have the exact same configuration) they are suites like HILC. You will have lots of direct contact with your suite mates & then you just have to get out and meet other people. All of those buildings seem plenty social.
