HOUSiNG Review and..etc

It seems that the only space for that is "I have a special documented medical need," which I can get documentation for it.

can you specifically request a single room? and if you can't, how can you get out of sharing a room with someone without having medical reasons?

ok so i actually do have the dust allergy thing, and I have a roommate already, so will my roommate automatically be put into one of the newer dorms with me? or will i automatically have to become single?

wait...do you get to choose a dorm if you have dust allergy??
i have that tooo..it use to be worse a year ago..but it got better..still allergic to dust...do i get to choose my dorm??
by the way..ag96...do you mean you get priviledge of choosing dorm since you have allergy?

basically, if you want a single, you will get a single. if you want a double, you might still get a single. if you ask for a single in a women only dorm, you will get a magnificent balch single. the ones with sinks in your rooms. the rest of the questions describe you, like are you a night owl or an early bird. do you study with music or without. are you a clean or a messy person. things like that.

about the roommate thing: unless you are a very easy going person (you wouldn't mind terribly if your roommate came home drunk, stole your clothes, puked over your desk, and started blaring music...though most don't do that thankfully), then get a single. Out of all the roommate situations I've seen, only 1 out of 30 or so are great friends with their roommate. the majority get along, but aren't really friends. the rest hate each other with passion.

Do singles cost more than doubles?

if you specifically request a single and get one, then it will cost more. If you request a double and get a single, then you pay less.

how often does it occur that you get a single when you request a double? bc thats awesome if u get to pay less.

meestasi, that is not true.

if you request a double and get a single, you still pay the single price. If you request a double for financial reasons, and they give you a single and you complain, then they will find a way to put you back in a double.

but overall, a single doesn't cost that much more:
single: $7,560
double:$6,680
triple: $6,140

what a tease. i wouldve actually requested a double too haha.

ummm...one of my friends requested a double and got a single in dickson and she's paying the price of a double. The chances of that happening are extremely low, and she's the only one I've known for that to happen to.

what is the different between the mews and the court-kay-baker (i think thats it...CKB is its nickname)? they are both new dorms, and i am split on whether i should really look into those or the really social dorms. im in architecture, so im going to be pretty much secluded to the studio, so i want to have a life outside of my major. i KNOW for SURE that i do not want to be in balch or any of the special interest houses or the townhouses...

there's really no difference between mews and CKB. but please remember, and i can't emphasize this enough, you DON'T get to choose where you live! don't spend time debating about whether you want to live in mews or CKB or donlon, because they're going to randomly put you somewhere. the only exception is balch. other than that, there's absolutely no use in worrying about it. all the dorms are nice- don't worry. :)

Does anyone know anything about the multicultural-themed dorm? i'm thinking about living there.
