Housing stress!!

i feel so dumb because i got accepted during the first wave but i had no idea about the housing situation so i didn't apply until april 2! i kno its bad but i was just curious which dorm i'd probably most likely get? I applied Harris (north), evk (new), pardee, webb, and college res hall (new) in that order. also, what is so special about birnkart (sic)?

also, now i'm really stressed out because i never did any of the housing supplement applications for the dorms i signed up for and all of them are closed so what exactly am i supposed do? will i not get a dorm now?? i'm just super super confused (hence my name :P). but seriously tho, YIKES!

please help me. i have no idea what to do…

As for the special interest floor supplemental applications, this is the person to contact:

Dr. Jennifer Stevenson

She is in an office that is separate from the housing office. Here is the link to the actual supplemental applications required for special interest floors (see the bottom of the page where it says “here”.) It appears to still be available:

No matter what, I’m sure you will get a dorm. It may just not be your first choice.

Well, I checked the websites and all of the supplements are closed now, but I’ll definitely try some of the numbers listed. Thank you!

superconfused, sorry - I just checked, too. But Jennifer Stevenson was very helpful when my son accidently submitted an unfinished housing supplement AND a completed one. He contacted her and she immediately deleted the unfinished one. I’m sure she will tell you what needs to be filled out, and if possible, get you the forms. She did tell us that only special interest floors in certain dorms needed the supplement.

As for Birkrandt, what we’ve gathered from the rumor mill is that it’s a nice blend of social and studious, for lack of a better way to put it. But I’m sure many dorms are that. The other thing is that the triples in Birkrandt are very popular - two entire rooms for three people, with the beds in one room and desks in the second. But to be honest, I’ve heard different good things about each dorm. My son requested Arts & Humanities at Parkside, because the suites appealed to him, and he has friends there this year who love it.

Whatever you get, you’ll be fine!

I agree with Jazz. Each dorm will have its own charm. You will get to meet interesting people no matter where you land up. Fingers crossed!! Don’t stress.

Well thank you very much to jazz and pixel, I really appreciate it and I am much less stressed now. :)

Confused…
Take a moment to check out the USC Class of 2014 on Facebook. There is a long list of posters hunting for roommates. Some of these already have a room and are looking for a congenial roommate. You have nothing to lose by giving it a try.

Good luck.

Georgia Girl, nobody really has a room yet. USC sent an email saying they would begin assigning rooms on the 9th of May (give or take a day - don’t quote me, as it’s not in front of me). Until that date, students can look for roommates and pick each other, or they can let USC do the matching for them. After that date, USC will do the matching using the information provided on the application.

If two students choose each other, the dates of their respective applications are averaged. This was also in the email.

The students who mention specific dorms on FB are merely stating what their dorm choices are.

Thanks for the update. At least the poster may be able to find somebody with an earlier application date who is looking for a roommate.

I cannot edit my post. 'Hope confused reads your post.

GG, I’m sure with all those great schools she got into, she’ll figure it out! :)

You’re most likely going to get Pardee. I emailed USC about my chances of getting Birnkrant (my dates between my roommate and I averages out to like, 3/15) and they said that they expect the end of March to be the cut off date for Birnkrant and New/North.

Is Pardee bad?? And if it is, can’t I just transfer? And actually, to Georgia Girl and Jazz, I called USC the next day and they said that I didn’t have to fill out supplementary applications for any of the dorms, but I hope I don’t get a sucky dorm.

I’d like to know more about Pardee too! It doesn’t seem too popular here. Some people said Pardee wasn’t too bad, but they lived on the Great Outdoors Floor. What about the regular floors?

I lived in Pardee my freshman year. It is very much a stereotypical college dorm. Two people in a small room, with concrete and plaster walls, a nice big desk, a closet, a dresser, and some shelves. Not too fancy, not too pretty, but it gets the job done.

Hows radisson and parkside?
