So I know to apply to FIT you go for two years to get your Associates and then apply again to get your Bachelors. How hard is it to apply for your Bachelors degree? I am a good student who considers FIT a definite safety school, so I have no doubt that I will get in as an undergrad. But do most people NOT get in again for their Bachelors? Or do I have the system wrong?

Also, about housing. Is it not guaranteed ALL four years? Or is it guaranteed the first two? I am typically a person who when something says "first come, first serve" I send my applications in ASAP, seriously. How hard is it to get housing at FIT for all four years?

Usually if you’re in the Associates and all your grades are in good standing, you’re admitted into the Bachelor’s program no problem. It’s just that some people either prefer not to continue, or transfer to another school for their BA.

Same thing with housing. They say “first come first served” and they have an upperclassman housing ‘lottery,’ but since they’ve built the new dorm on 31st, nobody has been turned away. A large portion of kids choose to live off campus due to the fact that room and board is ridiculously high, the 31st street dorm is pretty far away from the campus, and there’s a lot of really draconian policies, like pre-registering any guests the day before.

In short, don’t worry about either thing. Some room types (the Co-Ed suites for example, the holy grail of freshman housing) are in limited supply and although you may not get your first choice of room, you’re guaranteed a place to stay.
