Housing Thoughts

Right now I'm debating between O-House, Lipscomb Hall, and Reed Hall. I'm leaning towards Reed Hall since there's a possibility of a double with a bath or a double in suite with bath. It's also close to North Campus which holds the majority of business classes, so it won't be a hike to get to my classes. The building itself also has so much character! It's adorable! I'm just nervous about putting Reed Hall down as my number one because it is a distance from the dining halls, and it seems to be a bit disconnected from freshman activities. Any opinions? How far is the walk from Reed Hall to the dining halls? What have been yalls experiences with UGA dorms?

Reed is very far from food.
It’s also mostly upper classmen

In my personal opinion, you want a freshman experience. I lived in the ****tiest dorm by far (Brumby when it was all-female), and I actually enjoyed it. Made a lot of friends in my hall and throughout the building, and I’m far from being a stereotypical sorority girl. Community bathrooms aren’t fun, but you can rant about it with your new friends. I would recommend a freshman or freshman-majority dorm.

I’d say there’s a middle ground between Brumby and Reed. Reed is fairly anti-social but the new Bolton will be closer after it’s finished in August. Hill community is a good choice because the dorms are close knit without being gross (larger rooms, in-room temperature control). They’re freshmen dorms so they’re social but not as Greek. Just so you know, Church, Lipscomb, and Mell are all-girls. Lipscomb will be literally right next to the new Bolton dining hall so that’s a plus. Let me know if you have any more questions and I’d recommend joining the UGA Class of 2018 Facebook group.
