I'm a current student at the UofM living at home (10+ miles away) and I applied for housing back during the first week of April this year and I've been placed on the general waiting list. This worries me since I am getting a grant from the U to cover my housing.

I know housing is quite limited, but does anyone here have experience in getting placement while being on the waitlist? or is there a way to find out how far down one is on the list?

My son will be living in an apartment this year (GrandMarc) on the West Bank Bank and the U is allowing him to use the merit scholarship $$$ for rent. Each bedroom has its own lease so a lot of times so might be worth checking out in case dorm doesnt work out and you can still get a meal plan on campus.

I ended up calling them and explained the situation, but they said they had no way to determine where I was on the waiting list. I feel as if they should at least let us know our spot in line when they sent out the email.

noimagination - I believe this is what happened, but first I wasnt’ too clear in my earlier post… His merit covers his tuition PLUS most of room and board. If I recall, he had to give the U access to his bank account in order to have the excess $$$ automatically transferred to him and then HE pays for the rent.
