Housing waitlist?

I'm an incoming freshmen, and my roommate and I got put into a dorm that we didn't really want. We are considering applying to be put on the housing wait list to get into a more desirable. Do most people who get on the housing waitlist actually get put into their dorm of choice?

My son got put in a South Campus dorm - he wanted North because he is in engineering. He wrote email to housing and they moved him to North campus. But he did say later that he would have been ok with South - it’s closer to Evanston. So write the email and state your case - but it’s better to do it quickly. Then they have a chance to balance out the Southies wanting North and vice versa. Good luck.

There seems to be a lot of disappointment this year (not sure how it compares to other years) with what housing students got. I think there is a lot of information out there around which dorms are better. The dorms up north went very fast during selection. Don’t despair. It’s a little bit like the college selection process. You may not have been accepted to your dream school but a year later, you can’t imagine being anywhere else than where you went. There are lots of similar stories about housing. You are likely to be very happy where you ended up.
