I'll be a freshman next year and I need some help on choosing housing. I'll be in Weinberg, and will probably double major in biology and economics (classes more north, right?). I am really into sports, both playing and watching (varsity basketball/soccer). I am not really into getting drunk, and will probably be spending my time playing club/intramural sports, working out, and studying. I'm not very outgoing or nerdy - just a nice, smart, athletic, chill guy who is confused on where I would fit in. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Could just fill out the housing app. I mean, it’s not like we have to rank top five anymore… only fill out the survey. And you can edit it after the fact, too.

I feel like Elder would be a great fit for you… too bad you can’t rank housing anymore…

I have no idea what the survey consists of, but I’d definitely put a preference on North Campus housing if there is a question for that.

@PieceofToast - I understand that. Should have made it clear that I’m really inquiring about residential colleges, north, or south in general.
@nubaby - Interesting, my parents seem to think south would be better, but I am totally not the hipster, artsy type that I hear is prevalent down there. However, I thought the north was better for nerdy engineers or crazy party people. So there are more of my type in the north rather than the south? I’m just looking for normal, studious, athletes who would rather play sports or chill and watch TV than throw up every night.

zonis,
I don’t think that your classes are going to be mostly “north.” They will probably be mixed between North and South campus. My son lives on south campus in a residential college. He likes being steps away from downtown Evanston. He’s nice, smart, athletic and is actually in one of those “artsy” majors. He doesn’t drink, works out at SPAC regularly, goes to all the football games, plays intramurals when they fit into his schedule and is in a frat. The point is that he lives on South campus, his frat is on North Campus, his classes are all over the place, so just read about the residential colleges, pick your top choices and don’t worry about the North/South “divide.” Just one mom’s opinion. ;)

@zonis20

I know this is off topic, but could I possibly get your name on FB? I’m a freshman next year at NU and we have a lot of the same interests, and I think we should get to know each other!

S hasn’t looked at housing survey yet…last final is today…then, he’s focusing on PURPLE! But, our understanding is that none of this really matters anymore…that you complete the housing survey and you end up where you end up…but, again, we haven’t looked at it yet.
