Does anyone know whether it would be actually beneficial to choose a LLC instead of a normal building? I'm scared that I will not get to enjoy the social aspects of living in a fun dorm. Can someone rank the freshman buildings from best-worst? The LLC I would be living it is Hillside.

I just visited the campus yesterday. Hillside is so beautiful! It looks so much nicer than all the other dorms on campus by a long shot. It looks almost like a fancy hotel from the outside while the other housing buildings are unremarkable. I found this on college prowler:

“Freshman dorms are decently clean and livable. The place you want to live is Hillside. It’s the newest building and the dorms are beautiful. Most people describe it as a hotel. Otherwise, freshmen dorms aren’t bad and most upperclassmen live off campus on the water.”

If I were you I would go with the LLC. The walls are smooth instead of the white bricks you’ll find elsewhere. Also, I believe you would only have one roommate instead of sharing your dorm with two other people.

Thank you! Do you know anything about Adams/Barlow in terms of sociability? I think I might want to branch out and meet other people instead of being with just pharm/nursing students!

My son was accepted for Fall 2014 and would be going for Film/Media. He was advised that most of the students for that program live in Weldin. My concern when we visited is that they cramp 3 people into a 2 person dorm. Does that happen in all the dorms? Is there a possibility that you might get one roommate instead of two? This is insane how they do this!

As far as roommates go it’s all luck of the draw. My freshmen and sophomore year I lived with just 1 other person however my brother lived with three his freshmen year. This was before hillside was built though so there may be less forced triples now.

Freshmen do not get to choose a dorm to live in - they are assigned.

Does anyone have any opinions on the engineering LLC’s?

Hi!
Living in an LLC is definitely beneficial!
If you need help with your homework, just knock on a hallmates dorm and you guys can help each other out!
Most of the people you are living with WILL MOST LIKELY be the same major as you.
And yes, ALL dorms are fun, you just gotta make friends and enjoy your time.
Since you will be in Hillside, I would assume you are a Pharmacy or Nursing student?
Hillside is definitely a great place to live in since it is one of the new dorms.
Anyways, here’s the dorms and their LLC’s:
Hillside - Pharm/Nursing
Tucker/Merrow - Enginneering
Peck/Hutch - Used to be Nursing but i dont know what is it now
Fayerweather/Gorham - Business/Education
Browning - Biology
Barlow - Undeclared/etc
Weldin- Film/Arts
Butterfield - Kinesiology

Im not completely sure about some of them but yeah.

Living in an LLC would not prevent you from getting the “social” aspects of dorm life.
