It’s obviously a push for early acceptance. Doesn’t leave a good taste in my mouth about the administration and gives me concern about their financial state.
Yes, it is unfair to the kids - just adds another layer of stress… we waited until we were certain my daughter was going to UC, and did fine as far as housing time slots went… if I remember right, she picked in the 3rd week of housing selection and there were LOTS of open rooms…
My daughter (Freshman, DAAP ID) is enjoying Daniels… small, cramped and outdated, yes, but very social…she has met lots of nice kids and made a lot of friends! This was important to her (and us) since she is OOS. One of the biggest pluses in my mind is that she always has kids to walk back from the studio with since they put in many, many late nights at the studio (@designmomma and @geode111, you must have heard about the salt block craziness last semester!!?
Oops, part of my post got cut off…! I was just going to say that although the kids spend a lot of time in the studio, it is fun for them since it doubles as social time… tv, movies, music, food…
She is in a quad with 2 fashion design and 1 engineering student. (Didn’t know any of her roommates before move-in, but they get along pretty well). This is her first time ever sharing a bedroom or bathroom and she seems to be adjusting fine…during the week, between class, studio and work she isn’t in her room that much, and a couple of her roomies go home on the weekends…
The website says that you must accept admission in order to apply for housing. So this is not correct, right? When the application opens, I’ll be able to access it even without accepting?
@NurseParent my understanding is that you need to accept admission before you can apply for housing.
Enrollment also takes up to 48 hours to process, so if you want to do it right away, you must confirm enrollment no later than February 27th to be sure
Is anyone able to access the housing application yet? I think it should be available now but It’s not working. Wondering if it’s just me.
I got in a few minutes after 3. Have you tried another browser? I happened to use Firefox.
@bearcatfan i was finally able to get in tonight. thanks!
Which dorm is the best for students that will be spending a lot of time on east campus?
@Honorsmom is that the medical school campus? If so I think any dorm close to the shuttle route might be worth a look. I’m not sure kids typically walk to east campus. Daniels is on the east side of the main campus, so are Turner and Spencer (new dorm).
Morgens is physically closest to the east campus, Scioto is right next door.
@4getit yes, that is the medical school campus. We figured the best bet would be Morgens and Scioto but she was really hoping one of the cheaper places to live was closer and we just didn’t know it. I think for Freshman year, she’ll be good with shuttling since she’ll have a set schedule rather than just randomly waiting for the shuttle and watching it on the app.
After Bearcat Brunch on Saturday, she was told she wouldnt be on med campus freshman year, so she can live wherever.
