Does anyone know if there is anything the admitted student has to do for housing by May 1? My daughter paid the SIR fee and accepted the agreements for enrollment but that seemed too easy. Sat scores are already there. I don’t see anything about housing…
Housing surveys are sent out a little into the summer when you initially pay for housing (for preferences/sleep habits) and assignment/roommate surveys mid summerish (for single/double/triple and who will be your roommate).

Did you put down your housing deposit?
No but that link says it’s due by June 28. Is there another page that says otherwise? Thanks for your help! This is all a little confusing
@crystallight - Once you have accepted your admissions to UCSD, and paid the $250 deposit, you should get an email from UCSD asking that you create your UC San Diego Triton login. Once you follow the email instructions and do that, you will login in to your Triton account and that’s where you will see a Triton Checklist of things you should do and the deadlines for doing them.
One of those things you MUST DO BY MAY 8 is apply for housing. This is simply you click on the item that’s labeled something like “Apply for Housing”. This must be done by May 8. Thats all you need to do is click on it. Nothing else to do yet (i.e., no deposits, no choosing roommates, no choosing room types…This stuff comes later).
After you click on that “Apply for Housing” button, you will get an email telling you three things:
-
“Congratulations, Our records show that you have accepted your admissions offer from UC San Diego and applied for on campus housing.”
-
That a Housing Contract link will become available on June 11 at your Checklist, and you will need to complete the 4-step housing contract and give a $450 deposit by June 28.
3)Also, in that email you will be given instructions on how to activate your UCSD email account.
Also, go to your Applicant Portal and make sure all the items are checked off with a green check mark—There are 5 items at the bottom of that page you need to complete. This is the website where you received your admissions decision.
@kes2022 are you going to UC San Diego. I remember reading something on a michigan board too. I think you had lots of choices. I love learning about why you might have chosen UCSD over michigan, or other “highly” selective collges.
@hcmom65, I’m still not 100% certain, but pretty sure. It’s still between UCSD, UMich, and maybe Northwestern but I did accept the offer of admission to UCSD with the $250 deposit. I like the campus and the location a lot (I love beach cities), and their computer science program is top notch. Money is not a factor for us, but UCSD would save about $35K-$40K per year compared to UMich (if you add travel expenses to and from home several times a year—I live in Southern California).
Both schools offer tremendous highly regarded educations in CS, but if incoming freshman were allowed to direct admit into the LSA-Computer Science major at UMich, I would choose it over UCSD just to experience UMich’s school spirit and to have the college town Ann Arbor to hang out. But I think being a direct admit into UCSD CSE trumps being undeclared for a year or two at UMich…But, I’m still not sure.
I’ve stopped considering JHU, UPenn, UChicago, the other UC’s, and Cal Poly SLO.
I have 24 hours to make a final choice.
Ah, thank you. Wow, I don’t know how one turns down UPenn or Uchicago. You are a strong person to pick UCSD, But yes, if you live in SoCal, the cost of going to UCSD beats them all out ---- and location too! Good luck
My son accepted offer, paid fee but received no email. I did ask confirmation that his response was received, but he still hasn’t received the link for housing, etc… Getting worried!
@ew4colleges Don’t worry! I had to same fear too because I accepted offer with no deposite or waived message, but I got my email around 5 days later. I accepted my offer on April 30th and received my email yesterday May 6th)
