Housing

can someone rank the housing for me?
and is there a housing tour that i can sign up for?
what are the pros and cons of different housing
where are most of you going to choose?

i'm going for birnkrant :] i want the college experience of living in a dorm and all that, but am not too into the huge social scene at new and north, so i find that birnkrant matches my interests. it really depends on what you want. there are pros and cons to every type of living space.

and i'm pretty sure that you can tour the housing.. i'm going on 4/22 :)

birkrant if you want social/study mix, new/north if u wanna rage all day, fluor/other suites if you want the nicest place to live (no community shower, living room). and marks if you want to purely study all day...this is from what I hear

so i take it that new/north is a party all the time environment?

is there a website where i can sign up for a housing tour

i don't think there is a housing tour...

i went to usc a couple of days ago and to get into the housing i waited for someone with a key card and asked to see their room. it's a bit creepy but it works. plus a lot of people keep their doors open so you can just ask to come in if you're brave

well, in the admissions packet, they include an "experience usc" brochure, which has explanations of all the events you can go to. i decided to attend the on-campus admitted student reception since you can do the most there (including housing tours :]) and it's freeeee.. :) you can prob still rsvp if you want to go.

My daughter's been very happy in Marks Tower, the RA has done a great job throughout the year providing activities and the girls on her floor seem to have gotten pretty close. Many of them are living together next year. They often have study sessions all sitting in the hall together, eat dinner together Sunday nights, hang out in each other's rooms playing computer games and watching movies, etc. It isn't a "party" floor but it's definitely a very social floor.

that depends on which "marks" you mean. if Marks Hall, then that's true. Marks Tower? well, that completely depends haha. one of the floors of-which-i-will-not-mention (except to say that we get VERY mad when they use the elevator down instead of taking the stairs...i'll let you figure that one out) is fairly quiet and studious. our floor isn't studious per se, but we get our work done and we can socialize a lot. just last night music was bumping pretty loud at 3-4 in the morning...definitely fun times. i will warn that Marks Tower is one of the more out-of-the-way buildings and is tucked away, so compared to other buildings, we don't get a lot of visitors from other dorms out of almost forgetfulness/ignorance of it.

My S really enjoyed the Great Outdoors floor in Pardee. It was well located & they went on a few outings with the floor of girls. It was his 1st choice, modeled after a friend who chose it as his 1st choice when he was a student at USC.
