Housing

Hey everyone. i was wondering what you guys thought of the housing or are planning to do in the fall. like which residential area you guys will be living in etc? which ones good? wat configurations have you guys seemed to or will think you’ll like more? thanks :)

Are you talking about off campus housing?

nah the dorms

I don't know.... Have you ever visited the dorms there? There's like a few buildings that are "old" (but not very old...just noticeable) and there's the new buildings that look veryy nice. I'm leaning towards the Terrico (sp), since the buildings look all nice nd new. The down side is that it's near the cows, so i think it might smell. But when I went, it didn't smell bad at all.

You can look at that site, it might be helpful for you. :)

My sister lived in Segundo North - Thompson. It was REALLY nice. Totally new, clean, and yeah... pretty nice.

Tercero - Bin Laben (I think that's the new name now...) is pretty nice too. Their lounge is decorated really nice too. It's sort of close to the Arc too? Well, you just walk straight and the arc is right there, haha.

Cuarto - Emerson... my friend lived there. It felt sort of apartment-y, so I guess that's why some people think that it's harder to meet new friends? But I think it should be fine cause you'll probably be good friends with the other like five people you live with, haha. In my opinion, Cuarto isn't as clean and nice as Segundo or Tercero...

The Tercero buildings where there are letterings... I think each building depends on like certain things: international students, etcetc. Anyways, I visited my friends who lived in one of the letters (I forgot which) and it was... eh, not that great compared to Tercero or Segundo. The bathrooms were kind of dark and dirty looking. The stairs were kind of creepy. The rooms were okay, I guess?

Well, anyways, that's just me speaking what I've seen and thought of the different dorms. You should go check it out and see which ones you like! :)

are dorms co-ed?

one more question... can you request to room in a certain area? and like double if u have a friend or something?

most of the dorms are co-ed. there are no all-boy floors/dorms.

you can request a dorm in segundo, tercero, or quarto. you cannot request an individual building in one of those areas.

you can request to room with your friend if they request to be with you as well.

what about the actual rooms? are you paired with your same gender always?

can you request quarto but like a 2person suite or something or can you only request quarto?

You're always paired with the same gender. Cuarto does not have any 2-person suites I believe. There's usually at least 3 people to a suite.

I think that's right... My two friends who lived in Cuarto both had four-five other roommates (3 rooms total).

3 rooms for 7 people?

3 rooms for 5 people. 2 doubles and 1 single.

Oh I didn't mean my two friends lived together (they're different years). I meant one of my friends had four roommates, and the other friend had five roommates (I think?). Haha. Sorry for the confusion!

Oh, okay. Are the 2-person dorms really small?

Which dorms do you recommend for someone who likes privacy a lot?

a single...

there are no coed rooms just co ed floors

Can we request a coed floor? Or is that random too?

Being on a coed floor is the standard. Girls can request to be on an all-girls floor but the same can't be said for guys.

mmm. does housing registration begin may 1st? or is it after you submit your SIR?
