This is a question for those already in BU and familiar with housing. I am currently a BU freshman in Warren Towers. As you know, housing deadlines will be coming up soon and I was wondering what are my best options.

I really, really, want to get StuVi dormitory style, as it is in West, for the food (I cannot stand Warren dining hall anymore) and for FitRec.

But I also heard that is hard to get into StuVi, and it is all about luck with the numbers. With that said, I would like to know the next best options.

I have a good friend here that I am looking to dorm with, but we’ve came to the conclusion that this does not include the brownstones. We see too many rodents, and we hear about them as well from other freshmen who live there.

Are there any other nice options for sophomores who would like to dorm in West? I’m looking for an upgrade over Warren.

Also, for StuVi apartment style, is it true residents have to pay extra but don’t have to have a dining plan? Thanks.

u can’t live in a stuvi apartment as a soph, only jr or sr, and that goes for stuvi1&2. ive lived in a brownstone for 2 years, and while u see rats on the street, they are rarely a problem in the building, and some brownstones (like the one i live in) are stunning. i would take a look inside a couple and then decide. then you’re near warren, towers, myles, and shelton dining halls and have a few options to be less bored with

I’m also a freshman this year with a few questions about sophomore housing:

I know that stuvi is very hard to get into as a sophomore, but what about 1019 comm ave?

Are there any options besides 1019/stuvi that are near west but not full of freshmen?

Can you request to live with a group of people in a brownstone?

u can live in stuvi dorm style (which is only stuvi2) but u have to use the west campus dining hall. theres also 1019 comm ave which is suite style and would also use the west dining hall. there’s no other option besides west, stuvi, and 1019. it’s highly unlikely to get a whole group of people into a brownstone, but u can get roommates in if the room ends up being totally unoccupied for the next year (everyone in that room is moving out).
