How about UC, San Diego

Hello. I was admitted to Nanoengineering (Master program) in U of California, San Diego (UCSD) this year. Is there anyone who is in UCSD? I want to know some detailed questions, thank you very much!

  1. The website of UCSD said: "Pass at 70% = Get Masters degree and Advance into Ph.D. program" (see http://nanoengineering.ucsd.edu/graduate-programs/degree/nanoengineering/detailed-description). Does this mean if I get average scores more than 70, then I would be ensured to admit to Ph.D. program? If not, what the ratio is?
  2. Many people said that majoring in nanoengineering (either MS or PhD) is quite difficult to find a job? Is that true? Maybe I would be interested in semiconductors or sensors (two specific area in nanoengineering).
  3. The website (http://nanoengineering.ucsd.edu/graduate-programs/degree/nanoengineering/masters) also said:

“The three focus areas and related courses are:
Focus 1 – Biomedical Nanotechnology
Focus 2 – Molecular & Nanomaterials
Focus 3 – Nanotechnologies for Energy and the Environment”

If you were me, which one will you choose, and why?

Thank you very much!!!
