Im a sophmore in high school at the moment. I started studying for the SATs about 2-3 weeks ago. I learn about 20-40 words a day and sometimes I go after school to go over some math stuff with my math teacher. I printed out the SAT from collegeboard.com and study off of it a bit. Anything I need to buy, do, etc.???? Anyways am I on the right track? Am I too late to start studying and actually get close to acing the SAT or am starting at a pretty good time? Thanks!

lol ur gonna get like a 2400 by starting now

very impressive, keep it up it, just go over everything slowly and throroughly since u have the time, also, start studying for ne SAT II's u can so u can apply early when the time comes...

BUT MOST OF ALL

enjoy ur high school career!

You're getting a really early start, but unfortunately getting close to a 2400 has a lot to do with natural ability. If you're starting off at above a 2000 then hell yeah, you'll ace it if you continue that, but it might be difficult otherwise. I suggest buying some of the prep books talked about on this site - especially the official Collegeboard book. It has 8 full practice tests - you should probably just take one and see where you're at, and then study the book and do the practice tests.

I second the Blue Book.

How much studying/reading per week to go from 400 CR to 550? I have 2 months!

20-40 words a day? Wow. It would be amazing if you could keep that up! Be sure you don't burn out on all the studying...

Yeah, I wish I had started some basic review in my sophomore year and that will help you but DEFINITELY take it easy. You could easily burn yourself out by the time you actually have to study like crazy and take the test.

I took the SAT in january and studied really hard (took so many practices) and now I don't think I did that well, but i dont have the energy to start studying again. I seriously can't look at another practice test. I'll throw up.

Don't prepare for the SAT...it defeats the purpose of the test and is morally wrong!

I respect your work ethic! Keep it up! Just be sure your remember the "20-40" words you memorize every day...that's crazy. If you practice hard, I'm sure you'll be able to get that elusive 2400. :)

"Don't prepare for the SAT...it defeats the purpose of the test"

True, but everyone else prepares for it, so to be on an even playing field with them, you have to prep as well.

Yay, I'm going through my vocab flashcards right now... I feel so proud of myself XD
